A fast shutter speed requires a lot of light, so if the sun is setting quickly, drop the shutter speed way down (start at 1/60 and work from there) to do some panning, which is simply using a slow shutter and following a horizontally moving subject with your camera.The effect is neat, because the parts of you image that are flashing by quickly (background, horse's legs) become a big blur, but the

After becoming extremely frustrated with my 28mm "not-so-wide" angle lens while trying to capture some architectural interiors, I bit the bullet and bought a super wide angle lens so I didn't obliterate anyone in my furor. ;)After much research, I opted for the Sigma 10-22mm f/4-5.6. I think the highlight of the entire retreat was probably the 400 horse drive, which covered 60 miles, and was completed over the course of two days. Really, we felt as if there was nothing these guys (and gals!) wouldn't do for us. They drove huge herds of horses though those big pastures, up and down steep hills covered in sagebrush, and through rivers - mostly at a full-out gallop. Ariana's mom called me to come shoot her daughter at the Hunt Cup Show yesterday. I was very excited to try out my new Mark II at a real shoot. This morning, I went out to Empty Acres in Buckeye to shoot Tammi Sully's two stallions, Hickorys Smart Chic and I CD Cue.Tammi's daughter is quite a good little rider and it handled the two studs like they were aged geldings. I went out to the barn today so I could take some shots for an EPNet image challenge. I almost decided not to go, as the sky was black with an approaching storm. I just did my first pet shoot with a great family and two gorgeous Australian Shepherds.
