Counting the Days

Daisy is *technically* due on May 6th, but you never really can predict with horses, especially maiden mares, so who really knows. If she goes that long, I'd be pretty surprised, as she's pretty HUGE already!

This is going to be a big baby and an active one too. Kristen said it was nearly doing jumping jacks this past full moon. :)

I've been meaning to share more photos and videos, but this spring has been so darn busy, there just hasn't been a free second to do anything "personal". But if I don't post these now, I won't until after the baby is born, or not at all.

More to come soon, of course. I am literally counting the seconds!!! Just wish I knew exactly how many there were left. ;)

Salto (below) looking out of his stall, handsome dad to be...

Daisy's lookin' pretty happy.

Holy big belly Batman!

Apache is also eagerly awaiting the new little one.

A fresh coat of fly spray is the perfect excuse to roll!

Might as well squeeze in a quick nap while I'm down here. This damn thing is getting heavy!

One more shot of Salto - proud dad to be.

Daisy's Boyfriend, Salto

My mare's boyfriend is quite the hunk. :) Too bad she'll probably never meet him in person. LOL

Salto is a 17.2h bay Hanoverian with German papers. He's 19 years young in this video. Amazing, huh? Bred to be a Grand Prix jumper (my kinda horse), but he was injured as a youngster and was never able to compete.

A shame, but the silver lining is that he makes one helluva stallion. I just had to meet him last year after seeing his filly Sophisticate win her inspection. Then she went on to win National Champion Weanling Filly and overall placed 3/334, which was against other weanlings, stallions, the works.

His owner - my client and friend, Kristen - put together a great video, with clips of Salto strutting his stuff (love that shiny tail!) and also photos of some of his "kids" from around the country. All of it makes me even more excited to see how the Salto/Daisy cross turns out!

Should be a pretty impressive baby, from the looks of things. Hurry up May 8th!

Here's the Salto video, if you'd like to watch it. Just click play.

P.S. The first & last photos and first video clips were shot by me. We plan on shooting more video this year.
