Flying Fleur

From the other evening, the first time little Flurry was let out to play in the arena. She had a blast!

We had an amazing sunset, just wish it was a bit lighter when she decided to zip around, bucking and playing. So these are somewhat dark and a bit blurred, but still very cute nonetheless.

No retouching work, even the "Flying Fleur" shot. That was just snapped mid-buck, as she defied gravity for a moment. :)

Both her and mom are standing funny in this shot, but look at that neck & shoulder!

Canter pirouettes anyone?

Loong walk stride...

Showing off those long legs.

Hell bent for leather

Crappy shot, HUGE canter! And it was bigger, as I was a hair late...

"Uncle" Apache. :) Still lookin' good at 19!

That's all I had time to work on this week, but more to come soon.

Fleur Update - Growing Fast!

Just returned after a very busy 8 days in Chicago, but of course I headed straight to the barn for some quality Fleur time. :)

I'm playing catch up on email and work, so this post will be short & sweet, filled with lots of photos. Many more from Illinois to come soon!

Flurry after her first quick shower. She was great and stood by while mom was hosed, then let herself be lightly sprayed for a second, just to get used to the idea.

Ever since birth, Fleur been sticking her tongue out to the side and sucking on it. Kind of weird, as her half sister (same dad) does that too, but their sire doesn't. Another horse at the barn does it as well, and they're not related in the slightest. Odd, huh? But very cute indeed!

Trying for high key - didn't quite work as I'd planned, but still love the shot.

Itching the last bit of water on her side.

A Flurry of Fleur

I've been super busy with work, not to mention trying to get my new website up and running (hence the new look here, it matches the site better), so I haven't had the chance to post many Fleur photos. No worries, I'm about to make up for it! LOL

She's doing great, btw. Growing like a weed and a sassy little thing. Ryan, my boyfriend, calls her that in fact and Kristen, Salto's owner, calls her Diva. She has attitude to spare, but is still a total doll at the same time. Glad she's not 17.2h+ yet!

On with the important part, photos of my cute little princess. ;)

Like mother, like daughter...

Cutest little ears and poofy mane.

Just LOVE this eye shot of her!

Nap time - what a riot.

Still sleepy

She'd just whinnied at me - cutest sound EVER!

Thinking about stealing mom's hay...

Chewing on her ear instead. Om nom nom nom.

Such a pretty face

Checking out Figgy the Piggy

Investigating Figgy

Using mom's tail as a fly swatter

Chewing on a tree. "Can't help it, I'm teething!"

More adorable tree chewing & licking...

Finally, a quick snack

More images to come soon, heading out there again tomorrow and Sunday before I head back home for a week. What am I going to do without my ponies? [sniff]

It's a FILLY!

She's PERFECT too! Bay with 4 white socks and a teeny-tiny star. Her looong legs and shoulder are just amazing. She was born Derby day (Saturday) at 1:30 am. I just missed it by 5 minutes, at most.

Daisy's being a super mommy so far. Doc Harvey came to look at her yesterday and said she was absolutely perfect. Actually, a little too perfect, as she like to see foals a little knock-kneed at first, and this one is stick straight. But careful trimming will keep her that way.

She stood pretty quickly the first, but since she's so darn tall, it took her a little while to figure out how to duck down and nurse. Now she's got it down like a champ and can stand immediately on the first try.

Here are some photos taken when she was just born and a few hours old, then two from the first time she was turned out tonight. The vet said she was so big and strong, it'd do her good to go out for a little while, even though she wasn't even a 48 hours old yet.

Look at that perfect 10 canter, and this was only her second lap around! Got that from her granddaddy on mom's side, Donavan, who received a 10 on his canter.

Isn't she just gorgeous?! More photos to come soon...

(She's in a leather halter now, btw)
