It's a FILLY!

She's PERFECT too! Bay with 4 white socks and a teeny-tiny star. Her looong legs and shoulder are just amazing. She was born Derby day (Saturday) at 1:30 am. I just missed it by 5 minutes, at most.

Daisy's being a super mommy so far. Doc Harvey came to look at her yesterday and said she was absolutely perfect. Actually, a little too perfect, as she like to see foals a little knock-kneed at first, and this one is stick straight. But careful trimming will keep her that way.

She stood pretty quickly the first, but since she's so darn tall, it took her a little while to figure out how to duck down and nurse. Now she's got it down like a champ and can stand immediately on the first try.

Here are some photos taken when she was just born and a few hours old, then two from the first time she was turned out tonight. The vet said she was so big and strong, it'd do her good to go out for a little while, even though she wasn't even a 48 hours old yet.

Look at that perfect 10 canter, and this was only her second lap around! Got that from her granddaddy on mom's side, Donavan, who received a 10 on his canter.

Isn't she just gorgeous?! More photos to come soon...

(She's in a leather halter now, btw)
